HealthShare Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative providing the best service to our most important assets - our members.
Your credit union was chartered in 1955 to serve the employees of Moses Cone Hospital. Over the next 50 years, as Moses Cone Health System grew and changed its name to Cone Health System, the credit union extended it's membership base to include affiliates and associated companies of Cone Health System, all health care workers in Guilford County and the immediate families of such groups. In 2013, we changed our name to HealthShare Credit Union to better reflect our growing membership.
Regulation and Supervision
Credit unions are chartered under either federal or state law. HealthShare Credit Union operates under a state charter, and the books and records are inspected regularly by the North Carolina State Department of Commerce, Credit Union Division. HSCU is required by law to have regular examinations of their records and operations by an outside auditing firm, with the findings reported to the Board of Directors. NCUA administers the federal insurance fund (NCUSIF), which covers all federal credit unions and most state chartered credit unions. No taxpayer money is used for regulating and overseeing credit unions, as all activities of NCUA are funded by credit unions.

HealthShare Credit Union is a not for profit cooperative financial institution. We have been serving the medical community and their family members for more than 50 years. We care about YOUR financial health!

In 2013, we changed our name to HealthShare Credit Union to better reflect our growing membership.
As a member of HealthShare Credit Union, you are an owner. Your membership equals one vote at our annual membership meeting to select members to sit on the voluntary Board of Directors.
Once you join the credit union, you are always a member, even if you leave your job, retire or move out of the area. As long as you keep your account open with the required minimum balance, all our benefits and services are available to you.

The Credit Union Difference
How is a credit union different than a bank? Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist to serve their members. Like banks, credit unions accept deposits, make loans and provide a wide array of other financial services. But as member-owned and cooperative institutions, credit unions provide a safe place to save and borrow at reasonable rates.
